Listing eligibility review

An exchange review of whether a company should remain listed, separate from the numeric criteria.
Also known as: Substantive review

What it is

Beyond quantitative criteria, the exchange can review a listing when something calls the business into question — embezzlement or breach of trust, accounting violations, or a halt to the main business.

How it runs

Trading is usually suspended when a review ground arises. A committee then decides to maintain the listing, grant an improvement period, or delist. Trading normally stays suspended through an improvement period.

What to keep in mind

A review does not mean delisting is certain; many end with the listing maintained and trading resumed. But it can take months, and shares cannot be sold in the meantime.

Where to check it

The review ground, the suspension and the outcome are all disclosed. We collect them under trading halt and delisting filings.
