What it is
Trades execute instantly, but cash and shares actually change hands two business days later (T+2). Proceeds from a Monday sale can be withdrawn on Wednesday.
Cash balances
Korean brokerage apps show D+1 and D+2 cash separately because they split balances by settlement date.
What to keep in mind
To receive a dividend or rights you must be on the shareholder register on the record date, so you need to buy at least two business days before it. Buying beyond your cash balance on credit can trigger forced liquidation if the shortfall is not covered by settlement.
